Flood 2009

I am not in Fargo but I am only an hour away and I know what everyone is going through since the town (towns/East Grand Forks, MN & Grand Forks, ND) I live in went through it in 1997.

The levee's that were built on both sides of the river here are built to 60 feet and so far are working how they were intended.

We are down to 1 bridge between the two cities up until 52-53 feet and then they will close it down and the only way to get to the West side is to either drive all the way to Fargo, ND and back to town or drive to Oslo, MN and then back to town.

There are many towns up and down the Red River and Red River Valley and all are going through the same thing. The Red River eventually gets to Canada and they too will have the same problem.

I would like to thank those that are praying for all of us who are effected by this and for all of those who have come from other states to help with the fighting efforts.

Diet Update

21:13 Mar 18 2009
Times Read: 653

So things have not been going at all. But since the sun has been out and melting the snow. I plan on walking on my lunch hour and trying to get some walking in after work with my kids. I am not sure if they will be able to walk all that far and since they are to big for a stroller I might have to look into bikes.

I still plan on losing 50 lbs by July and another 50 by the end of December so I have a lot of work to do.

If walking isn't an option, yoga works good too. It helps with your flexibilty also and can be done in one are.

Also any type of cardio can be just as effective as walking also sweety, like running in place, walking up and down stairs, or even playing with your kids outside, like sports wise (tag, frisbee, etc...).

I have faith in you and I Believe in you, if your goal is 50 by July and then 50 by December, I believe you can do it. =]

Grandma Update

21:09 Mar 18 2009
Times Read: 655

So a week ago yesterday (which would be 3/10/09) my grandma had her right leg removed below the knee. I was unable to go and see her since I was sick and she has since been moved into the rehab center on the hospital campus.

I visited with her yesterday and today and she is doing great. Her therapist are working with her to strengthen her muscles and get it so she can get in and out of bed to the bathroom and more. She hopes to be able to get back into her apartment and if she can get her muscles strengthened she will be able to, if not she will be in a nursing home until she passes.

Grandma.....

06:18 Mar 07 2009
Times Read: 666

I just got home from the hospital and my grandma was talking about stuff that happened a long time ago and wasn't true.

she didn't even remember I was there this afternoon until I told her and I had to tell her 8 different times. the pain meds they have her on are ones she can do herself but only every 15 mins. or so and she must have been in some real pain.

she didn't want me to go so my sister took my kids to her house and I stayed until my dad called and said to let the nurses handle it. the thing he forgets is they can't just sit in the room like she wants so I asked if they could get her a sleeping pill or something. they gave her Benadryl and some Tylonal and combined they work like Tylonal PM.

I hope she is able to get some sleep so she is better tomorrow.
